Tips for Driving on days that are:

Snowy, Icy or Adverse Weather

 

  

Here are some tips for winter season:

  • keep your headlights on at all times during the winter

          yes – always keep your headlights on; even in the daytime !!

  • slow down !!
  • take turns, very slowly !!

take your time when making turns;

Especially at intersections, pulling into driveways & parking lots !!

  • only drive on roads that you feel comfortable
  • stay off roads that are icy, snowy, wet or dangerous looking
  • try to reassure the student with lots and lots of postive comments.
  • make the student feel comfortable; because they will be nerveous.
  • try to stay on the roads that are plowed & salted
  • be extremely careful at night... there will be added darkness, glare, snow & ice - extremely dangerous combinations.
  • keep the trunk of your vehicle well stocked. keep the trunk filled with emergency items, a warm blanket, flashlights, jumper cables, extra clothes, gloves, hats, jackets.

contact the office if you need any additional items.

 

  • cancel any lesson that you think will be dangerous or unsafe.
  • if in doubt, call the office !!
  • please stay safe & keep the students safe, as well !!

 

Note: Make sure that the office and your family are aware of your driving schedule at all times.

Always make sure that your schedule information is current and make sure that someone is available to help out in case of emergency situations.
