NWSDS Informer Volume 1, Oct 1, 2001
Going forward, I am going to make a great effort to keep you up to date on certain issues occurring within our organization. Please feel free to give me any input that you would like presented to the other employees as well.
Another busy summer comes to an end
I would like to thank each and every one of you for your hard work over the summer. Many of you
worked extra hours and it was greatly needed and appreciated. Our sales figures were up for the June-August 2001 period by 8.1% compared to June-August 2000. Each year our sales figures improve. I believe that there is a growing need for private driving instruction. This along with the high quality of instruction provided by our instructors is driving our sales figures higher.
The Database
As many of you already know, we have a new database that is linked through the internet. This means that all of you will have access to it. We began using the database at the end of the summer. All of the pertinent information for students is stored in the database as well as balances owed by students and upcoming schedules of classes for all locations. The one function of the database that is not yet complete is the instructor driving schedules. This is estimated to be complete by the end of October. This means that instructors who do not do their own scheduling will be able to access their own driving schedules. More information will be given on that when the function is complete.
Classroom instructors should currently be using the database to print out their own attendance forms and balance listings for their students.
If anyone has any questions on how to use certain functions in the database or how to retrieve information please let me know.
Payroll
I wanted to reassure all of you about our bimonthly payroll process that has been in existence since the company was started. My goal is to get all of you your paychecks as soon as possible. The way I process the paychecks is faster than that of other companies with non-salaried employees. Other companies typically dont pay employees for their very first pay period. So work performed for the 1st through the 15th is paid on the 31st of the month. Work performed from the 16th to the 31st is paid on the 15th of the following month. Our process actually gets you your paychecks about a week earlier than is typical of other companies. The work you perform from the 1st to the 15th is paid to you by the 22nd of that same month rather than the 31st.
