Invite a Guest Speaker into the classroom !!

Invite an Expert !!

One of the best ways to introduce materials to the students is to invite a special guest speaker into the classroom. Students will respond very positively and will get a better understanding from these presentation.

  • Insurance Agent: I guarantee, any insurance agent that you contact about giving a presentation will jump at the opportunity to speak to your class ! They usually discuss rates, policies terms and accidents. Very informative guest speakers; plus they have lots of information, quotes, brochures, contact information for you and for your students !

  • Police Officer: Contact the local police department to arrange a visit from a local police officer. They can give an excellent presentation regarding:
    • Laws and city ordinances
    • Rules of the road
    • Safe driving tips
    • Accidents, car crashes & dangerous intersections
    • Drunk Driving Awareness
    • What to do when pulled over
    • What to do after you get into an accident
  • Fire Fighter / Paramedic: The local fire fighters or paramedics can also give wonderful presentations on:
    • Accidents, car crashes & dangerous intersections
    • Extrications
    • First aid & auto safety.
    • Emergency situations & precautions.
  • Bus Driver: Bus drivers can discuss bus safety tips. The bus drivers usually have a well prepared bus safety presentation for students & schools. They also have lots of safety pamphlets & brochures to pass out to the class!
  • Train Engineer: Train engineers can explain the train / railroad safety tips. The engineers or railroad employees can also give tips regarding railroad crossings and staying out of train / car collisions.
  • Truck Driver / OTR Driver: Truck drivers drive everyday on the roadways & see some interesting situations, accidents & scenarios. You and your students will be very surprised & pleased if you invite a professional truck driver into the classroom !!

  • Auto Mechanic: If you invite an auto mechanic into the classroom, they will probably take the class outside to view the parts of the car, the engine & discuss everything they see under the hood. Inside the classroom they can discuss how to keep the car running smoothly & give maintenance tips ! An excellent potential speaker for your classroom !

  • Injured Victims / Accident Victims: You can invite someone that was in an auto accident or you can invite a former student from a past classroom session, that had an auto accident. These speakers can discuss their ordeal of all of the tragic events leading to their accident – Before during & after.

They can explain:

  • The intersection & surroundings
  • The crash
  • Who was at fault
  • Their injuries to them & the other passengers.
  • What happened to the other person in the other car & their passenger(s)
  • The ride in the ambulance
  • Their hospital visits & surgeries
  • Money that was lost
  • Expenses & damage to the car
  • Insurance procedures & ordeals
  • The ongoing claims & situations

  • DUI Victim: Contact MADD, SADD or your local police department to find out the phone numbers to the local organizations. They can provide you with a guest speaker to talk with your class about drinking & driving. They will have contact information about victims of drunk drivers & they will also have contact information of the actual drunk drivers. Some can speak to your class as part of their community service. Caution: Speakers will include graphic information & content.
